In brief

What works, what to weigh

Strengths

4 reasons to book
  • Prime central location — You can walk to the Culture House in about 8 minutes, and the main shopping street and old harbour are just a few minutes away. Despite the central position, the street is quiet.
  • Well-equipped studios for self-catering — Rooms come with tea and coffee facilities, a dining table, and some have a kitchenette with cookware and utensils. This helps you save on eating out.
  • Friendly and responsive staff — Guests often call out the attentive and accommodating team, and the owner personally resolved a request for fresh towels within minutes.
  • Free Wi-Fi and useful extras — Wi-Fi is free throughout, and some guests also appreciated the free computer with internet and printer, plus a plug converter available in the apartment.

Worth weighing

4 to weigh
  • Facilities score lower than other categories — The facilities rating is 6.0, noticeably below the overall 8.5, so expectations for on-site amenities like a gym or pool should be modest.
  • Rooms vary in layout — Some guests noted differences between apartments – for example, one had a couch while another didn't. Check the specific studio type before booking to confirm the setup.
  • Check-in window ends at midnight — Check-in is from 15:00 to 23:59, so if your flight arrives late, you may need to arrange something else.
  • No pets allowed — The property doesn't accept pets, so plan accordingly if you're travelling with an animal.

“The property was right in the centre of the city.”

“The room was tastefully decorated and brand new, the staff attentive, and the hotel is centrally located. The food selection was good and the meals were great.”

“A lovely, modern little place in the middle of Reykjavik. The staff were very friendly, the rooms were nicely decorated and had a balcony. Check-in was easy, service was great, the restaurant was lovely, and parking was close by.”

“We stayed for four nights, one before our trip to NYC and three after. The mattresses were very luxurious, but the apartments vary. The first night we had a large room with a couch and small table and chairs; the other three nights there was a bigger table and chairs but no couch. Still, a nice apartment with everything needed. Location was excellent, just a few steps from the main street and the sea. After three nights we hadn't received new towels, so we called the owner (free for Icelandic numbers) – he was friendly and funny, and brought them himself within minutes. The free computer with internet and printer was handy. Everything you need for a great stay in Reykjavik.”

“Apartment 103 at Vatnsstigur 11 was clean, spacious, and had everything we needed, including free Wi-Fi and a plug converter. The viewpoint over the bay and old harbour was a 1-minute walk one way, and Laugavegur shopping street was a 1-minute walk the other. Great, quiet location close to everything, with no noise or crowds. The kitchenette saved us money on food, as Reykjavik restaurants are pricey. I'd definitely return and recommend it to anyone wanting a nice place downtown.”

“The hotel is close to all the main attractions in Reykjavik and about a 15-minute walk from the BSI central bus station. We liked the quietness.”
